The journey will last approximately 1 hour 30 minutes, during which you will see beautiful views of the local landscape and small villages that you will pass along the way. You can learn a lot of interesting facts about history, life and facts in the Czech Republic from a driver who lives locally. Upon arrival at the location, the driver will explain where to look, what not to miss, advise where to eat well (in case we do not have a private guide) and agree where to meet on the way back.

Caves tour usually takes place every hour, so it is necessary to plan the time of departure so that you do not have to wait at the site, ideally expect to arrive at the site in :45 minutes, i.e. departure from Prague always at 7-12:00. Then meet your driver and head back home.

Trip description

Location information
Bozkov Dolomite Caves are situated on the northern edge of the village of Bozkov on the slope of the plateau called Na Vápenci (485 m a.s.l.). Caves were formed due to a strong corrosive activity of the underground water in the lentil of calcareous metamorphosed dolomites, in some parts strongly silificated. Consisting of two relatively independent systems of cave corridors and halls, which were connected with trenches and a long tunnel at the times when the cave was made accessible. They are permanently flooded with water in the lowest parts, forming underground lakes – the largest in Bohemia.
Caves are also unique with an unusual extent of selective corrosion of walls and ceilings, and with rare forms of these formations. With their total length of all the spaces known today – 1,060 m – and with denivelation of 43 m, the longest dolomite caves in Czech Republic. There is a 350 m long route open to the public with a tour duration of 45 minutes.

Air temperature of 7.5–9 °C (ca 47°F), relative humidity 96–100 % and temperature of water in lakes 8 °C. Bozkov Dolomite Caves were declared a National Natural Monument in 1999 and visited by about 70 thousand visitors every year from all over the world.
