The journey takes approximately 1 hour, during which you will see beautiful views of the local countryside and small villages that you will pass along the way. You can learn a lot about Czech history, life, and facts from the locally-based driver. Upon arrival, the driver will explain where to go, what not to miss, recommend good places to eat (in case we don't have a private guide), and arrange a meeting point for the return trip.

The Terezín memorial is actually a small fortress town, and visiting all the historical sites can easily take up the whole day. We recommend booking a guide who can optimize your day according to your wishes. Otherwise, it is advisable to prepare your own plan of places to visit, including an approximate timetable. The fortress is divided by the Ohře River into Small and Big, which are approximately 1.5 km apart. The driver will take you to the information center where you can buy tickets that include admission to all the sites in the memorial. Full ticket price is 280czk. You should definitely visit the Small Fortress and some of the museums in the Terezín ghetto, which can all be comfortably seen in about 4 hours. You can easily extend your visit time. There are shops, restaurants, and cafes in the town where you can refresh during the day.

Afterwards, you will meet with your driver and head back home.

Trip description

Location information
The Terezin Fortress was founded in 1780 by Emperor Joseph II as part of Austria's defense system against Prussia. Originally named Josefstadt after its founder, the fortress was built in the shape of a pentagon and was an important component of Austria's defense system. In 1850, it was renamed Terezin in honor of Empress Maria Theresa. Over the years, the fortress became a symbol of repressive regimes and the suffering of many people.

The Terezin Memorial is a historic site in the Czech Republic that commemorates the victims of Nazi terror and the Holocaust. This memorial is located in the former Terezin Fortress, which served as a concentration camp during World War II. The memorial includes several parts, such as the Small Fortress where political prisoners and other inmates were held before being transported to larger camps. There are also museums that recall the lives and suffering of prisoners during the war. The memorial also includes memorials and monuments commemorating the victims of the Holocaust. This memorial is a very important place that recalls the horrors and suffering of people during World War II, and plays a significant role in keeping the memory of this dark chapter in human history alive.
